An introduction to the principles of hydration for endurance athletes
Water is an essential nutrient, not only for athletic performance, but in life. To function properly, the body requires water. In some ways it is the forgotten nutrient. By focusing on broader nutrition and fueling topics, it’s easy to deprioritise the role of water. By not considering the process of hydration (the absorption of water) it will negatively impact performance in training and racing.
