Connor Mantz — runner
It’s the way you do it — the classic route. Show promise as a youngster and rise through the ranks, growing into the distances. That raw speed — honed in the explosive shorter races — stands a runner in good stead. Inevitably, Conner Mantz, made a quick impact at the marathon. First American on debut at Chicago and now first in the US Olympic Marathon Trials, Florida.
“One thing I would advise my younger self to do fuel during long runs and workouts. As a collegiate athlete, I would underfuel and not fuel during some long runs, which could be as far as 20 miles or 32 kilometers. This prolonged my recovery and made it really difficult, for the next time I ran, to be ready to go out and workout..” — Conner Mantz.
