Set against the backdrop of the Black Canyons 100k ultramarathon in Arizona, this honest film explores Molly’s mindset as she moves from the road to the trails. Open and reflective about the past — motivated for what’s to come. Happier. Healthier.

Olympic bronze provided a fast-track to the front of marathon running. It was a whirlwind period for Molly. Demands were high and her body struggled to keep pace. The road was destructive. Attrition through monotony and repetition. An unrelenting, passive-aggressive opponent. Always there — her strongest rival. Never beaten.

The discipline no longer complemented Molly’s hunger to be competitive — to still be a runner. It was the end of the road but not the end of a career.

“With that door closing, the door of trail running opened. I realized that I don't have to step away from running completely. I don't have to retire — there's another option here. There's a way that I can do this healthy, but it's going to look completely different from what I imagined my career was going to look like."

This is Molly Seidel in a new setting.
