I bought this in preparation of my first half Ironman race. I didn’t want any surprises during the on course nutrition. Although it’s expensive, twice as much as HUMA or Honey Stinger, it seems to work very well for me…great energy, easy to eat, compact, not messy. The texture is different than anything I’ve tried. It seems like a solid product.

First impressions are good. In terms of effectiveness it’s fare to say that it does make the difference. I like the fact that all the products taste pretty the same. I don’t care much about the taste as long as it works so it may not be for everyone. I also like the quantity of carbs per gel, bar or drink. It’s very easy to know how much your are consuming per hour. I first tried it on a 100 mile ride and it worked perfectly. You have also used it before a Time Trial and it also was effective. In regards to digestion it was ok although I had a bit of toilet emergency a few hours after my ride. I guess it takes a bit of time to get used to it. All in all, I will definitely buy it again.

These are the only bars I use in training (caf and non-caf)—I take one prior to longer training sessions. I love the gel, but the solids are a great alternative, provide a good amount of energy, are not heavy, do not upset my stomach and TASTE GREAT! Love these!

I think the consistency is terrible and really hard to swallow. The taste is very unpleasant as well. The fructose doesn't work for my stomach and gives me loose stools. I can only use this as emergency nutrition if I have 40 minutes or less left to run.

My first experience with the Gel100 Caf100 and the Drink Mix 160 was very positive. The gel consistency and no strong taste make it easy to swallow without the need to chase it down with water. Similarly, the Drink Mix 160 is smooth with no strong artificial flavors. All this with zero gut distress after several hours of running make Maureen my go to fueling product for ultra runs.

I hate the artificial taste of other products on the market. Even hate the taste of standard energy drinks. The gels are easy to ingest and have zero sticky nasty taste in your mouths decreasing the need to clear out your mouth with water afterwards. Can eat them at any time during a workout or training session. Will not be using other brands anymore even during the marathon I passed up free energy only to use maurten

I took on long distance running/walking after retiring at the age of 64 in 2008. Prior to that I was active as an avid singles tennis player (and a fan of Bjorn Borg and Roger Federer). I lived in East Africa for 6 years as a student, and in Nairobi (1963-66) I saw the emergence of great Kenyan runners like Kip Keino. I slowly worked myself from 10km races to the half-marathon. Completing a full marathon was then placed on my bucket list. In 2019 I tried my first marathon, which resulted in a DNF at 24 km. Although I trained hard without any coaching, I ignored the importance of proper weather attire for cold weather, and the in-race nutrition. In November 2021, I became aware of the use of Gels for in-race fueling, in particular the Maurten Gel 100. I got this gel and two others which I tried in my practice runs prior to the May 1, 2022 Toronto Marathon, which I successfully completed at the age of 78. I was fortunate to have a friend who ran beside me and helped me during the last 7 km with electrolyte drink. Again, I made the mistake of ignoring electrolyte balance, thinking that the gels and water would take care of every thing. For my second marathon attempt in October 2022, I did my homework and incorporated the Maurten 160 drink mix into my training plan, and used it on race day. I also followed the Maurten marathon plan regarding pre-hydrating with 160 drink, using the 160 drink during the race, and a Gel 100 at every 6 km. I was able to achieve a comfortable finish with no issues similar to the one I experienced during the Toronto marathon finish. Although my time was greater than the result in Toronto, it can be explained by variables like wind and course conditions. My overall goal was to finish without injury/distress, and it remains the same for future races. Finish time is secondary to me. I am about to attempt my 3rd marathon on May 28, 2023. I was low on the Gel 100, so I ordered a batch on April 28, 2023, and it arrived as promised. In conclusion, I am satisfied with the performance of Gel 100 and drink mix 160, and the fuelling plan laid out by Maurten has been helpful to me in achieving my objective.

Keeping the products natural don't start adding any flavours also look at brining your prices down if you did not support Ironman I would simply move over to what ever brand Ironman would be using on my chosen event. If I was not doing an Ironman then I would move over to SIS each cheaper. I'm only using Maureen gels because they are used at Ironman events in Europe.
